When SpriteMancer is the better choice

If you need fluid smoke and fire simulation, want to build effects as a node graph, or bring 3D objects into your 2D effects, SpriteMancer does things ParticleFX Studio does not.

When ParticleFX Studio is the better choice

  • You are on macOS, Linux or a Chromebook, or want nothing to install.
  • You want to describe effects to an agent, or make them from Claude Code or Cursor over MCP.
  • You want Sprite FX on your own character with one click, previewed on your sprite before you choose.
  • You want a large free library to start from, with free downloads.

Try Sprite FX on your own character

Drop your sprite on the agent page and preview every Sprite FX on it. Opening one is free.

Questions

Does ParticleFX Studio have fluid simulation like SpriteMancer?

No. Smoke and fire in ParticleFX Studio are particle-based, shaped with turbulence, drag and colour over life. If you need a fluid solver, SpriteMancer has one.
