Make a GTA V .ypt particle file online
Make a ready GTA V .ypt particle dictionary in your browser from any effect, with no CodeWalker, OpenIV or Windows install, and stream it on your FiveM server.
A .ypt is a GTA V particle dictionary: the effects, their particle rules and their textures in one RAGE resource that the game streams. FiveM loads custom ones from a resource’s stream folder. Until now, making one meant Windows desktop tools and the game’s own files: open a dictionary such as core.ypt in CodeWalker or OpenIV, change values or swap a texture, and save it back.
ParticleFX Studio writes a new .ypt from your effect’s own frames, in the browser: no install, no Windows, no game files to unpack. Start from one of the 1200+ library effects or make your own in the studio. No other browser tool we know of makes a .ypt.
How it compares
| Way | What you start from | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| ParticleFX Studio | Any library effect, or your own made in the studio. A new dictionary of your own; the game’s effects are not touched. | A browser and a free account |
| CodeWalker | The game’s own .ypt files, opened and edited, or a dictionary written as XML and imported | Windows and a GTA V folder |
| OpenIV | The game’s own files, replaced inside its archives | Windows and a GTA V folder |
What is in the file
- Two effects:
pfx_nitro_boost, which loops until you stop it, andpfx_nitro_boost_once, which plays one cycle. - One camera-facing sprite that plays all 36 frames of the effect from one texture, in a 6 x 6 grid. GTA reads a flipbook’s grid from the texture’s name, so the texture uses a built-in name whose grid is 6 x 6, inside your own dictionary.
- Scene lighting, so the effect holds up in daylight, and a glow setting for how much of its own light it keeps at night.
- The texture at 2048 px (about 4 MB in DXT5) or 4096 px (about 16 MB) for big effects close to the camera.
Make one
- Open Ground Fire Hazard in the studio, or any effect from the library. Change colours, size or timing first if you like.
- Press Export, choose FiveM under Export for and turn on GTA file (.ypt).
- Set Size, the effect's widest side in metres (2 m to start; a ped is about 1.8 m tall), and Origin to Ground, so it stands on the floor at the coordinate you pass. Glow, lighting and frame blending pick sensible values from the effect.
- Set Package to .ypt file for your own resource, or Resource for a ready one with a test command.
- Press Export, put the .ypt in your resource's
streamfolder and play it with the natives on the FiveM setup page.
With Package set to Resource you get a ready FiveM resource around the .ypt. Copy its folder into resources, add ensure pfx_nitro_boost (your effect’s name) to server.cfg, join and type the same name as a chat command to see it at your position.
A free account gets 3 exports a day, and the ready .ypt counts as one, alone or in a resource with fxmanifest.lua and a test command. The frames as one 6 x 6 or 7 x 7 sheet PNG are free the same way. Any plan, from $7.99 a month, has no daily limit, for a whole server's set of effects at once.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes, with a free account: a GTA file counts as one of your free exports, and you get 3 a day. Any plan has no daily limit, for a whole server’s set of effects at once. Every library effect is free to open and change.
Do I need CodeWalker or OpenIV?
No. The export writes the .ypt itself, ready to stream: put it in the stream folder of a resource, or export the ready resource and ensure it.
Can it open or edit an existing .ypt, such as core.ypt?
No. It makes new particle dictionaries from your own effects and never opens game files. To change one of the game’s own effects, use CodeWalker.
Which GTA V does it work with?
Legacy GTA V, the game FiveM runs. We test the export on a FiveM server. GTA V Enhanced is not supported yet.
