Sprite sheet splitter

Split a sprite sheet into separate PNG frames, downloaded as a ZIP. Set the columns, rows and frame count, preview the animation, all free in your browser.

Updated

Drop a sprite sheet and download every frame as its own PNG, numbered in order and zipped. Everything runs in your browser: your file is never uploaded, there is no sign-up and no watermark.

How to split a sprite sheet

  1. Drop the sheet on the box above. A strip of square frames, or a grid of common sizes such as 32, 64 or 128 px, is sliced automatically.
  2. Set Columns and Rows under Slice the sheet if the guess is wrong. The frame size shown underneath should match one sprite.
  3. Lower Frames if the last row is part-empty, so the blank cells are left out.
  4. Watch the preview to check the order and timing.
  5. Press Download frames (ZIP of PNGs). Files are named after your sheet, with the frame number.

When to split a sheet

  • Editing one frame in an art tool that does not open sheets.
  • Engines that take single images, such as some web and visual-scripting tools.
  • Re-timing an animation by duplicating or dropping frames, then putting it back together with the sprite sheet maker.

Put effects on your sprite

Fire, sparks, auras, hit flashes and dissolves on your own character: describe it to the AI agent (20 builds to start, free) or pick from 510+ free effects.

Questions

How do I know the number of columns and rows?

Divide the sheet width by one frame's width for the columns, and the height by the frame height for the rows. The splitter shows the frame size it is using, so you can check it against one sprite.

My sheet has padding between frames. Will this work?

The splitter cuts equal cells across the whole sheet, so a small, even padding stays at the edge of each frame. Sheets with uneven spacing or packed (trimmed) frames need their data file to be split exactly.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The sheet is read and cut in your browser, and the ZIP is made on your device.
